About Joshua DeLozier
Joshua DeLozier, known to his students as Mr. D, has spent over a decade teaching and coaching across public and private schools. Holding a Masters degree in Educational Leadership, he moves beyond standard academics to focus on the social-emotional and character development of the whole child. By utilizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) combined with a Montessori background, Joshua ensures every student engages with material through their natural strengths.
Throughout his career, Joshua noticed a critical developmental shift: between 6th and 8th grade, many young teens begin to distance themselves from parental advice, yet remain receptive to their teachers. By high school, however, that receptivity often fades across the board. This is where professional mentorship becomes vital.
At Tactical Ethos, Joshua blends high-level coaching discipline with empathetic mentorship. He operates from a unique vantage point—as a neutral third party, he speaks the language of authority while maintaining the "peer-level" trust required to reach a teenager. The Reverse Mentor Model is a two-way street. In every session, we reserve the final 15 minutes for the student to become the expert. By teaching me a skill or topic they are passionate about—from tech to art—students build the communication, confidence, and 'buy-in' necessary to lead their own academic journey.
